Beating The Running Boredom With Audiobooks
This is a sponsored post.
Do you love running, but get bored? When I first started running, the one thing that often kept me from running longer was boredom. My body could run longer, but my brain was done. My brother-in-law told me he listened to audiobooks while running and suggested I try it.
Running With Audiobooks
I figured it couldn’t hurt to try. So, the next time I ran, I prepared first. I signed up for a free trial of Audible and downloaded my first audiobook and went for a run.
I remember somewhere around mile 2, I realized that I had just run 2 miles and I hadn’t been paying close attention to my miles.
Before listening to audiobooks, I would count down every quarter of a mile. With the audiobooks, I am so engrossed in the book, that I forget about the miles. I’m just running and enjoying. I love it!
Listening to audiobooks while doing any type of workout or mundane activity can take an activity from boring to exciting. I use time in the car, on the elliptical and waiting in doctor’s offices to learn something new or to escape into a story.
Audible Audiobooks
Audible offers free 1 month trial to test out the service. The Dispatcher is currently available on Audible.
The Dispatcher is a new release written by John Scalzi who is a Hugo, Locus, and Audie Award-winning author. This eagerly anticipated thriller tells the story of a complex future where professional “dispatchers” intervene to bring murder victims back to life.
The Dispatcher features narration by Zachary Quinto who is best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot
I dare you to try Audible during your next workout and come back here and let me know if it made a difference in your workout. What are your favorite books to listen to while running?
I like to listen to book series because then once a book is done, I can’t wait to start the next one. I find that I want to go run when I’m in the middle of an audiobook, just so I can find out what happens next.
Go sign up for your free 1 month trial, download a book and give it a try.
