What You Don’t Know About the Quality of Your Indoor Air Can Hurt You
This is an Aprilaire sponsored post.
Do you think about the air you breathe in your home? Most of us don’t think about it until there is a problem with the air. In the summer, we become very aware of the air when it’s very humid or the lack of humidity in the winter shocks us (pun intended).
Is Your Home’s Air Healthy?
Even though several of us in my family have allergies and asthma, I still didn’t think too much about the quality of our air until recently. I assumed we were doing all that we could. We change our air filters regularly. We buy filters that are good for allergies.
A few months ago, Aprilaire contacted me and I began to research their company and the products they install in homes.
WOW! There was so much about the air in my home that I didn’t know anything about. I knew right away that this was something my family needed to investigate further.
Indoor Air Quality
The quality of the air in your home affects your comfort, health, home, and pocketbook.
Health: If anyone in your family has allergies, asthma or gets sick a lot, the quality of the air can make them better or worse. If the air is too dry, you can have dry itchy skin or sore throats, but if your air is too moist, that is a prime condition for mildew growth.
Comfort: Dry air can make your eyes dry and moist air can cause yucky odors. And what about those static shocks every time you touch something in the winter. That’s not fun either and it’s caused by low humidity in the air.
Home: Our home has all our prized possessions (people and things). The air quality affects the health of our home just like it affects the health of our body. If the air is too moist, you could have damage to the structure of your home and to your personal items.
Money: Having good air quality will save you money because it is more efficient to heat and cool the air.
In order to have good indoor air quality, you need to monitor and manage the air in your home. More specifically, the
Installing an Aprilaire system in your home will help you monitor and manage these four things. And the best part? You can do this all from the Aprilaire app or Amazon Echo.
Air Quality of My Home
This summer, my oldest has had horrible issues with his allergies. He was sneezing all day and sounded like he had a permanent cold. The timing of this campaign was perfect.
I was researching meds my son could take and trying to find a good allergist in the area. His health was affecting him in many ways. He was miserable all the time.
When Aprilaire contacted me, I began to wonder if there was another option we should look at before pumping him up with meds. I knew I needed to look into our indoor air quality.
