Tools & Tips for Your 2016 Better You Personal Challenges
This is a Sam’s Club sponsored post.
2016 is the year my family is working to live a healthier life. As the Mom of this family, I know that to take care of my family and teach them to live healthier, I need to first take care of me. I need to put my oxygen mask on first. I need a plan and the tools to heal my life.
Sam’s Club Has The Tools
has the tools you need to live a healthy life. You can buy in-person or online and buying in bulk means you don’t need to go out as often.
No matter what your challenges are this year, Sam’s Club has the tools to help you overcome those challenges and reach your goals. Everything from vitamins to treadmills.
My Tools & Tips For Healing
I started my year with shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. So now the first part of the year, I will focus on healing.
Healing does not just mean doing the exercises and waiting for wounds to close. It also means, I need to pay attention to what I put into my body, get more sleep and move my body every day. The healthier I am, the faster my body will heal.
Here is how I plan to be healthy and heal.
1. Track my steps and sleep.
I love tracking anything. Tracking and watching patterns and seeing the ups and downs motivates me.
I’m going to wear a Fitbit Charge HR so I can track my steps and more importantly, track my sleep. I’ve had a difficult time sleeping since my surgery and I know that I need to get a good night’s sleep to help with healing.
I’m working towards 7 hours of sleep/night and 10,000 steps/day. I will take it slow and work my way up with smaller goals each week.
2. Eat 5 fruits and veggies every day
I am not very good about eating my fruits and veggies each day. Healing takes a lot of energy and my body needs those healthy foods to keep my energy levels high.
Adding a fruit or vegetable to each meal and snack though out my day. If I break the goal down to that level, it doesn’t seem so hard.
3. Take daily vitamins
While I hope to get the majority of my daily nutrients from food, I know there will be days where it doesn’t happen. In order to heal, my body needs the vitamins.
I’m going to get Women’s Centrum Silver vitamins from and take daily. That way I can be sure my body is getting what it needs every day.
4. Drink 8 glasses of water daily.
Water is an another essential tool for healing. I like to add fresh lemon, lime and mint to my water to help with the taste.
5. Drink a shake for lunch each day.
Lunch is always the meal I forget to eat. Then several hours later, I’m starved and I eat whatever is quick and easy. That usually means unhealthy.
Instead, I’m making sure to have EAS AdvantageEdge Carb Control Ready-to-Drink Shake from . Chocolate Fudge flavor is my favorite. If I have plenty of the shakes on hand, then when lunch time comes around, I will reach for a shake instead of chips and dip.
6. Take 15 minutes each day for me.
Each morning after my kids have left the house, I plan to make a cup of tea and sit with my planner and a book. I’m going to write 3 things I plan to do that day and then read a chapter of my current book
Having a plan for each day will help me assure that I stay on track with my work, health and personal tasks.
7. Follow my physical therapists plan.
Once my PT begins, it will be critical for me to stay on track. The shoulder surgery I had has left me with limited mobility in my right arm. I want to get back as much of my mobility as possible. That means working hard and doing my home exercises.
8. Have fun and enjoy my family.
It’s so important to remember that life is not all work. I want to schedule time each week to have fun. Go on dates with my husband. Plan weekend trips with my family. Have lunch with friends. Enjoy my family and friends.
Each year, we have goals and the reason most of us fail is poor planning. We need to have a plan in place to reach our goals. Be sure we have the proper tools.
When I set goals, I first put a plan in place and then I get the tools I need to be successful. Sam’s Club makes it simple for me to stock up on the tools I need for my healing plan. And saving money at the same time is also an added benefit.

Wow I had no idea there was an email subscription service that made things like this so easy. I thought I’ve considered having an incentive for my email list, but I thought I would have to manually sort through the emails and pick someone. This is giving me so many ideas about what to do for my websites!
