My Christmas Pain Update
Let’s see, where did I leave off? Yes, I was having an
ERCP. I had the ERCP on Monday and it was good news. The pressure
on my pancreas was high which meant they found a reason for my
pain. The doc made a snip in my pancreatic duct to open it more and
put in a stint. After I woke up I was in a lot of pain. I ended up
staying overnight for 2 day sin the worst pain I have ever been in.
The nurses at the hospital were outstanding. The doctor I was
dealing with had the worst bedside manner ever. She didn’t seem to
believe me that was in pain. She just kept saying, “you shouldn’t
be in pain.” So after 2 days of puking and curled up in my bed in
pain, the doctor released me. I didn’t think I was ready. I will
get into the details at another time. Finally I figured if I got
out of there, I could go to another hospital. I slept in my bed
that night and I was in a LOT of pain. I woke up with a fever of
101.6. I knew something was wrong so we went right back to the ER
(at our hospital that is wonderful). It turn a out I have ileus,
which is basically partial or total blockage in my bowels caused by
the procedure. They admitted me and now I am here on a no food or
drink by mouth diet. I will probably be spending Xmas here and I’m
totally bummed.
That is where I’m at. I’ll tell the full hospital
story when I’m out. I definitely plan to talk to is doctor when I
have my 2 week check-up.
