Fun High Tech Automatic Kitchen Trash Can
For Christmas, my parents bought me the ultimate gadget, a motion sensor kitchen trash can. The Nine Stars Touchless 13-gallon trash can is not only for those who love gadgets, but for everyone (who has a kitchen.)
It’s very simple to operate, wave your hand over the motion sensor and the lid opens. It stays open as long as it detects that your hand is near. Once you remove your hand, the lid will close on it’s own after 3 seconds. It is made of stainless steel and takes 4 ‘D’ batteries to operate.
A touchless trash can in the kitchen is both handy and cuts down on spreading germs. Your hands are often full or dirty when you need to open the trash and when preparing meat, you will not spread the germs from the raw meat to the trash can lid.
There is nothing to put together. You put the 4 ‘D’ batteries in the lid, put in a trash bag, put the lid on and it’s ready to go. I wondered about how long the batteries would last because D batteries are expensive. My mom said that she changes the batteries in her touchless trash about 1-2 times per year.
Features:
- Holds a 13 gallon trash bag.
- Made of brushed stainless steel for easy cleaning.
- Lid stays open for 3 sec after hand is removed from sensor.
- Includes a separate manual button to open and close lid.
- A removable plastic ring to keep the trash bag in place.
The Nine Stars Touchless Trash Can is also a good looking trash can. You won’t have a problem putting this trash can out in the open. It is tall and slender so it can fit better into smaller spots.
A touchless trash can in the kitchen is one of those gadgets that you may think you don’t need, but once you have it, you can’t imagine how you lived without it.
Nine Stars makes many different styles and sizes of touchless trash cans. They are available at Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon and from Nine Stars online. I received the DZT-50-9 model which can be found retailing at $54.95.
Hi Michelle
I love the idea of a touch less bin as I use one that you press your foot on the lever at the bottom and I have broken 3 now and I am sure it isn’t me being heavy footed and have been looking for a different design to give a go.
So for great info thanks lee
Great blog! Thanks for sharing this information. I have found that touchless trash cans can be a great addition to a home. I wouldn’t say it’s necessary but it surely makes things more convenient!
I have this can & just love it but best of All my grandkids think it's the cat's meow ! They just love it and it takes a lot of use as you can imagine ! Problem is I'm having a real tough time putting new batteries in and this is my second time doing it !
I cracked up when I saw "A touchless trash can in the kitchen is one of those gadgets that you may think you don’t need, but once you have it, you can’t imagine how you lived without it."
That's how I felt about something from my sister that she gave us for Christmas…looks exactly like this EXCEPT that it is a towel warmer! Now, after using it the first day to warm towels as we got out of the hot tub and then used it again when we wrapped our feet with them when we did foot massages…well, we are finding all types of uses!
Now…I do want one of these trash cans! 🙂
I have always wanted a towel warmer, except I don't have a good place to plug it into in my bathroom. They need to make a batter operated one. LOL!
I want this trash can!
