Bob Harper‘s newest motivational fitness DVD, Ultimate Cardio Body is awesome! I had the opportunity to try it out (sponsored) before the official release on March 15, 2011. It is currently available on Bob Harper’s website.
For those of who who may not know who Bob Harper is (and must live in the forest), Bob Harper is one of the trainers on the NBC series, The Biggest Loser. He has been on all 11 seasons of The Biggest Loser. Bob Harper is certified with the American Fitness Training of Athletics and with Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.
Bob Harper’s Training Philosophy
I have always felt a connection to the way Bob Harper trains. It is his “Inside Out” philosophy of integrating mind, body and spiritual fitness into his training plans. He pushes the contestants both physically and mentally. We all know that losing weight is not only about eating less and moving more. It is as much an emotion challenge as a physical challenge (and I think often more an emotional.) I have read his book, Are You Ready! (affiliate link) several times.
Being the typical dieter who has gained and lost the same 30 lbs so many times in my life, Bob Harper’s methods appeal to the emotional side of me. I like that he is harsh, but gentile at the same time. He pushes the contestants to get to the root of the problems that got them to where they are today.
The Ultimate Cardio Body, Extreme Weight Loss Workout is an excellent DVD. There are two extreme workouts, the one hour Extreme Cardio Challenge and the 10-Minute Glute Challenge. I did both workouts last Saturday and today, I am finally able to sit down without wincing. My butt, thighs, calves, arms and abs were so sore. It was a really awesome kind of sore though. I love the kind of sore you get from working muscles to the max.
The Extreme Cardio Challenge is an hour-long aerobic workout with intervals to get your heart pumping and challenge you at the same time. The 10-Minute Glute Challenge gives the lower half of your body an extreme workout designed to refine and tone the glutes.

As you can see, the Ultimate Cardio Body workout really works you hard. It gives you different levels so you can work up to the max, but yet do not feel too overwhelmed as a beginner. Bob Harper does an excellent job of explaining all levels of each move. He is entertaining and fun to watch. The workout is 1 hour, but it did go by quickly. I almost felt like he could see me because as I would be getting tired and ready to give up, he’d comment about moves to do when getting tired.
Adding Extreme Workout to My Training
Right now, I’m back to being a beginner for working out. Because of my chronic pancreatitis episodes last year, I was in bed for 2 months and had surgery over Christmas. I had not worked out much since October.
The past 2 weeks were my big push to get back into it. This workout busted my butt, but I feel really energized about it. I got a really challenging workout that I was able to complete as a beginner and I have a lot to work towards. I am definitely adding the Ultimate Cardio Body DVD to my 1/2 marathon training (2011 fitness goal).
