This Is 40 Movie
This Is 40 is a new Paul Rudd movie opening in theaters on December 21. I saw the commercial for This Is 40 and I knew this was going to be a funny movie because it looked like my life. I’m 45 with 4 kids and have both an 8 and 13-year-old daughter.
This movie is about Pete (Paul Rudd) who is married to Debbie (Leslie Mann) and they have 2 daughters, 8 & 13 years old. They deal with jobs, marriage, sex, aging parents, teens, tweens and life.
This Is 40 Trailer
First, watch this trailer…
Now tell me that doesn’t seem like real life?? The movie isn’t out yet, so I have not seen it, but here is a quote from the press release I received. It describes perfectly why I think this movie will be both funny and probably tug at the heart strings a bit too.
What emerges is a deeply honest portrait of the challenges and rewards of marriage and parenthood in the modern age.

Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post. I thought this movie looked like a lot of fun and I wanted to write about it. All opinions are 100% my own.
last summer, my daughter and I went to the beach. We visited the boardwalk that we always visited but it took me twice as long to complete the trip
needing help up the stairs
Not being able to eat hot sauce
I’ve had great this is 40 moments. Seeing my daughter graduate from high school and getting into her dream school and finding an amazing guy who makes her happy. In my head, I was just saying so this is what it feels like to be 40
For me it’s just not being able to keep up with my kids anymore. Joint pain and I get out of breath too quickly now.
having back pains after a walk at the mall with my grandbabies
being 40 hit me when I needed antacids after every meal
I had a 40’s moment when I had peanut brittle. It was my favorite candy growing up. 40 year olds like myself should not eating peanut brittle. I had an unfortunate tooth incident and it just hit me that I’m no longer in my 20’s and can’t indulge in those kinds of things like I used to.
After attending a party, the next day my back was in pain and I felt like I was having some intense heartburn. That was when being 40 truly hit me.
For me it was when my daughter gave me her ipad to borrow and i spend 30 minutes looking for the on button
haven’t had any memorable this is 40 moments
This movie was definitely so realistic. The bathroom scenes are so this is 40
I think I have a lot of “This is 40” moments with my children just with the technology and the language and the mannerisms
Haven’t hit forty yet
At 40, I couldn’t eat the way I used to without gaining a lot of weight
I think at 40 – it was pretty clear that I wasn’t going to be changing anything in my life from now on. Hubby, Kids, Business – all were going fine and I was finally “settled down” and happy.
40 used to seem so old 🙂 now that I am in my 30s 40 doesn’t seem so old anymore 🙂
I’m only 20 so I don’t have stories yet!
I’m in my twenties so no stories yet.
haven’t turned 40 yet
your only as old as you feel
Being happy in my own skin
I’m 3 years away from 40 so I’m what you would call “pushing forty”. I can relate to this couple because we’ve been married for a zillion years (okay, 14 years) and we have 3 kids.
when i turned 40, i turned wiser.
