Ready Player One Book Tour; Review
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is a book that I probably would never have chosen to read on my own, but I am so glad I did read it. Ready Player One takes place in the future, but not too far..it’s 2044.
Ready Player One Review
I liked Ready Player One because the author was able to weave trivia from the 1980s into the story and since I’m a child of the 80s, I loved it.
The book revolves around a teenage, Wade, who lives in a much different time with a huge virtual world, OASIS. He even attends school virtually. The creator of the OASIS was an eccentric man who left all his money to the first person who finds the hidden Easter Eggs in the OASIS. The creator was obsessed with the 80s, so Wade spends hours learning all about the culture of the 80s. He watches TV series, listens to the music and reads the books form the 80s.
The book is a very easy read and one of those where you get lost in the book when you pick it up and before you know it, several hours have gone by.
My 13-year-old daughter did try to read the book, but she did not enjoy it as much as I did. She said she could not follow it at all. She was unable to tell what was referencing the 80s and what was referencing the future. She didn’t feel the connection to the 1980s that I feel when I read the book.

The leggings/oversized shirt combo. Thanks for the giveaway!
I loved all things 80’s from the neon clothes and jelly shoes to the big hair. But the one thing I loved (and still love) is the music. The big haired bands are the best!
I enjoyed the punk look of old business suit jackets or sport coats worn over t-shirts.
