Use Technology to Bring Your Family Back to the Dinner Table #Spon #LenovoIN
Imagine sitting around your kitchen table with your family sharing memories. You pass photos back and forth telling stories about what was going on and laughing about old times. You play videos of your vacations at the lake together.
Today most of our photos are digital which makes it harder to pass the photo album around at the dinner table. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC puts the PC right where the family is….the dinner table.
It may seem futuristic, but it isn’t. It’s here now and my family fell in love with the Horizon. We used it to share photos, watch videos, play games, read the news, do homework and resolve disputes over who played in that one movie.
What is the Lenovo Horizon Table PC?
Great question! I think of it as a cross between a desktop PC and a tablet or better yet, a tablet big enough for the family to sit around and use…..at the same time! Use it as a normal desktop with Windows 8 and a keyboard and mouse or flat as a large tablet with a Lenovo custom interface called, Aura.

Horizon Battery Use
The Horizon comes with a 2 hour battery, intended to allow you to move the tablet from one place to another without turning it off. The battery isn’t intended for long-term use.
Aura
Aura is the Lenovo interface used when the PC is in tablet mode. As you slowly push the tablet down flat, the Aura interface comes up on the screen on its own. Two or more people can use the tablet at the same time. If you are looking at photos, you can flick them to each other across the tablet. Change the sizes of videos or photos so that everyone can view them.
You can add more apps from the Lenovo App store for Aura or the Windows App Store when using Windows 8. My kids favorite game is the ice hockey which uses the Striker accessory. You can buy an accessory package which includes 2 Strikers and 2 Joysticks to use with games.
The Striker turns the table PC into an ice hockey game. It took the kids a few minutes to get used to the Strikers and Joysticks when playing games, but once they got the hang of it, they had a blast. Everyone wanted to play when they came over.
Enhance Your Family Life With Technology
As we go into the future with technology, I firmly believe that we need to find ways to integrate the technology into our daily lives. We all know that family time is important, so I make it a point of finding ways to show my kids how we can use technology to bring us closer and enhance our lives. The Lenovo Horizon does just that.
My family had so much fun sitting around the Horizon on the table look at photos and watching videos from when the kids were babies. We played games and laughed and did all the same things I did with my family 30-something years ago, but it was on a PC. The tools may have changed, but the family time hasn’t.
I saw the Horizon in action at CES. I spent a lot of time talking with Lenovo and looking at all their products. The feeling I got after leaving the showcase, was that Lenovo wants the technology to integrate into our lives. They don’t want to take us away from our families and put us in front of a screen 24/7. Lenovo wants us to use their technology to enhance our lives and bring the family back to the dinner table together!
Disclosure: I received the Lenovo Horizon for a few months to try out for this review. I did have to send it back which was a very sad day in this house. I also received a Lenovo laptop as compensation. I am now a Lenovo INfluencer, so I do receive product and opportunities, but I do believe that Lenovo’s mission is in line with mine…showing families how to use technology to enhance their lives.
