Best Buy just received the new Solo drones just in time for Father’s Day. This drone are pretty cool. It is powered by two integrated Linux computers which means that it is easier to fly for beginners. If Dad has never flown a drone, but has always wanted one, the Solo would be the one for him.
The Solo drones have built-in GoPro support (GoPro sold separately). You can start recording the video, stop recording the video and take a photo while the Solo drone is in flight. And, if that isn’t cool enough, you can also see the live HD video stream on your mobile device.
So, let’s use our imagination for a moment. You set up the Solo drone with the flight path you want it to take and lock it in. You press the one-button launcher and the Solo drone takes off.
From your phone you can see the live HD video from the GoPro (the GoPro is sold separately) and you have a bird’s eye-view of whatever location you pick. You take photos and a few videos. The Solo returns back to you (per the flight path you entered.) That’s how easy it is.
And if you run into the problem and need to stop the Solo while it is flying, there is a pause button. The controller is much like a video game controller, so it’s very easy to use.

This I love…with just one touch, you can send the Solo drone on a flight away from you and it will keep the camera focused on you and scenery around you and you can snap a photo. Take a selfie from far away!!!
I am in love with this Solo drone. I want to try it out and take some cool aerial shots. I think it would be fun to just fly it over my house. This is definitely a tech gadget that a tech-loving Dad would go crazy over!!!

I’ve never flew a drone, but certainly I am going to in the future, considering how some big companies try to push them on the market, but I guess that I have to wait until they become mainstream.
If you don’t attach a GoPro to the drone, you won’t have visual contact with it, at all?
