Arlo Q Home Security Camera With Audio and 1080 HD Video
This is a NETGEAR sponsored post.
I’ve written about the Arlo home security camera in the past. The Arlo system is my favorite because it is easy to set up and add new cameras. NETGEAR has added a new Arlo to the system. It is the Arlo Q. I received the Arlo Q to test for this post.
To refresh your memory, here is the original wireless Arlo.

And here is the new Arlo Q.
Many of the changes are obvious. The Arlo Q has a wire and is shaped differently.
Both cameras have 1080 HD video you see is high quality. Here is a screen print from my iPhone.
One of the not so obvious changes is the two-way audio. You can talk to people who are near the camera. My kids are often downstairs and I’m upstairs and instead of trying to scream down 2 flights of stairs, I get on my phone and use the Arlo Q. They love that. They can respond to me and I’ll hear it.
And when you think you hear noises at night, you can say something through the Arlo Q. I always figure if nothing moves or I don’t hear anything after I yell, “I SEE YOU,” then I’m pretty sure I heard the cat or dog.
The Arlo Q is small and doesn’t take much space. I have 2 Arlo cameras on my home security system already, so I just plugged the Arlo Q in and pressed the sync button and it connected. It was that easy.
But even if you do not have an Arlo camera, the set up is very easy.
You can set it up to automatically record video when motion is detected. I have this set up with the Arlo Q and the recordings are saved for 7 days. That way if I need to go back and look at something in the past 7 days, I can. So far we haven’t needed to go back and look, but it’s nice to have the feature.
The 7 day save feature is also free. You do not need to buy extra services.
And just like the wireless Arlo, the Arlo Q has night vision. You can see what is going on at night.
You do not need the smart home base if you only have the Arlo Q home security camera. The Arlo Q can connect directly to your WiFi. (The Arlo cameras need the smart home base.)
Having the Arlo Q home security camera in my home has given me extra peace of mind. I can check noises, animals or kids from an app on my phone.
Disclosure: As a NETGEAR ambassador, I receive product to try and share with you. I received the Arlo Q for this post. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
