Mother Daughter Book Club Summer Books Collection
Summer is the best time to catch up on books that we all enjoy reading. I urge my kids to read books they want to read because they often spend the school year reading books they have to read.
My daughter is 13 and I love finding books or series that we both can enjoy. It gives us something to share and keeps me up-to-date with what her interests are. Scholastic has a Mother-Daughter Book Club with new books suggestions each month.
Mother-Daughter Book Club Selections
The Mother-Daughter Book Club launched in May with the following 4 books:
- Glory Be by Augusta Scattergood,
- Pie by Sarah Weeks
- The Boy on Cinnamon Street by Phoebe Stone
- Tomorrow Girls: Behind the Gates by Eva Gray
The June books are:
- Whatever After by Sarah Mlynowski
- The False Prince by Jennifer Nelsen
Mother-Daughter Book Club Meetings
You could also start a Mother-Daughter Book Club in your community and the website offers discussion questions and a monthly Skype sweepstakes where you could win a Skype meeting with one of the authors at your next book club meeting. The June sweepstakes author is Sarah Mlynowski, author of Whatever After.
But don’t let the thought of a meeting stop you from enjoying these books with your daughter. We have a crazy summer and no times for monthly meetings, but I plan to use the book suggestions to find a few books that my daughter and I can enjoy together.
I love to declare “books in bed days” in the summer. We have days where we all stay in our PJs and relax in bed all day. We aren’t sick, but just enjoying a good book and relaxing.
Disclosure: I received copies of the books from the giveaway in exchange for this review. All opinions are 100% my own.
