Playground scrapes, mosquito bites, too-tight shoes!  All these things have something in common.  They leave unsightly nicks, scrapes and scars on our skin.  With spring in full bloom and summer just around the corner, we want flawless skin all over!

Your grandma will offer you cocoa butter, your dermatologist might write a prescription and your local drugstore has aisles filled with fade creams.  But all of those things take time and we need a solution in the meantime.

The answer is body makeup.  Instead of covering up and hiding under a pair of confining jeans, just a few touch-ups will set your style free.  I know, you don’t need another “to-do” added to your makeup routine, but this is absolutely worth the five extra minutes.

After all, it’s body makeup that keeps celebrities looking flawless in the pages of magazines (yes, they skinned their knees on the playground, too).  And you thought it was just air brushing and photo shop.  Au contraire!  Body makeup is used by celebrity makeup artist all the time to create the even canvas they need, not just for magazine shoots, but also the red-carpet, appearances, and of course, covering tattoos.  But it’s no longer a celeb secret.

The good news is, body makeup can be used to cover blemishes on your decolletage, shoulders, back, legs-basically anywhere-including toes. Sounds wack, maybe even a bit excessive.  But the reality is that your feet get noticed and lets just be honest, a pedicure can only do so much if you’ve had scars or corns.

Remember in the movie Boomerang, when Marcus revealed his foot fetish and didn’t want a second date with a girl whose toes were, well…hammer time?  Need I say more?

These are a few products that you may want to check out:

  1. Face and Body by MAC
  2. Pretty Toes Fade -n-Cover
  3. DermaBlend

Of course, you don’t want to use makeup as a substitute for skin care.  Be sure to address the cause and use a product to fade/heal your blemishes.  When it comes to makeup, skin care is where you want to make your investment.   In the meantime, using body makeup can give you the confidence you need in your appearance to enjoy the weather and summer fashions.  When choosing a product, here are a few things to consider.

  • Resist the temptation to use your foundation.  The skin on your body may be a few shades different than that of your face.  You may need to buy more than one shade and mix them to get a natural match to your complexion.
  • Also, you’ll want to purchase a product that won’t transfer on to your clothes or furniture.
  • Make sure to follow directions and set the products with powder if required.
  • Don’t skip the sunscreen.
  • Remember, you only need to cover the areas that are exposed, so application time is minimal.
  • Most importantly, Blend!!
