I know you are probably thinking that there is a typo up there in the title somewhere. I must have left out a NOT somewhere? Nope! Have you ever tried zpizza? I was really reluctant to try it at first. My neighbors had all told me that I needed to try this healthy pizza, but I didn’t want to spoil pizza for me forever.

Let me go back a few years and explain something about me and pizza. I LOVE pizza, but I have this really sensitive stomach that doesn’t agree with me that pizza is a necessity in life and not a luxury. Whenever I eat pizza, I pay for it for days. I won’t get into the nitty gritty, but just trust me in saying that it isn’t pleasant. So I don’t get to eat pizza very often. My neighbor told me about zpizza and said I should try this because they use all natural ingredients and maybe it won’t bother my stomach.

So, I finally gave in and tried it. WOW! It really did taste good and guess what? My stomach didn’t bother me. It tasted like real pizza too (and I didn’t have to make it myself…best part). They have so many different varieties of pizza also. Some things I’ve never heard of before like Thai pizza, Berkeley Vegan pizza or Casablanca pizza. And if you aren’t really into pizza (WHAT?) a variety of salads, sandwiches and pasta.

zpizza was nice enough to offer one of my readers $20 in gift certificates to try zpizza. Check out the locations to see if there is a zpizza near you. (U.S. only)

Then follow my blog using the Google Friend Connect in right sideabar. Leave me a comment after you’ve done that. That’s it! Now you are in the running for the $20 gift certificates to zpizza.

For an extra entry:  Join the ztribe at zpizza (you will get a $5 coupon once you sign up) and leave a comment once you have completed that task.

Contest ends February 26 at 11:59 pm ET. I will choose one random winner.

Good Luck! If you’ve tried zpizza, let me know how you like it.

disclosure: I was offered $20 for the review, however, I chose to give the $20 gift certificates to my readers since i had an experience with zpizza previously and I could write from the heart about my previous zpizza purchases (that I purchased with my own money). All opinions are my own.I received NO money for this review.

Pocket Camcorder Review of Flip Mino, Sony Webbie, JVC Picsio and Kodak Zi6

  • Google Buzz

A few months ago I did a Digital Soul Hour episode about Vlogging and I promised to do a review of the different pocket camcorders that I own. This is the promised review. As I was starting my review process, I noticed JVC came out with the JVC Picsio and I tweeted out that I would love to include it in my review. JVC contacted me and sent me a blue Picsio (yes, in the name of disclosure, that means free). For the FTC, here is the list of the 4 pocket camcorders I will be reviewing and how I came to have them in my possession.

Kodak Zi6 – This camcorder was in my swag bag from the SocialLuxe party at Blogher

Flip Mino HD 60 – I won this one through a random contest at yourtribute.com

Sony Webbie PM-1 – We purchased this one ourselves last year.

JVC Picsio GC FM-1 – JVC sent to me to include in this review

I have included the iPhone 3Gs in the video comparisons at the very end, but it was because I was curious how it compared. I didn’t expect it to do as well and I am not “officially” including it in the review, but it’s there if you’d like to see how the video looks.

I spent at least 2 weeks with each of the 4 camcorders. Using it as I normally would, carrying it in my purse, taking to dance, school, vlogging, etc.

All of the videos below were recorded at the same time using the highest quality HD setting for each camcorder. I uploaded them to my 24″ iMac and used iMovie to put together the short clips. I uploaded directly to YouTube using the default HD settings. All 4 cameras allow you to put the camcorder on a tripod. The still pictures were not all taken at the same time, but are here to give you an idea of the quality of still pictures that are available with each camcorder. Once again, I used the highest settings for each still picture and resized for the web.

Five For Fighting, Slice Reviewed

  • Google Buzz

I have had the new album, Slice from Five For Fighting for a few weeks now. Whenever I listen to a new album, I never like it right away because the songs aren’t familiar to me. I have to listen to the album over and over to figure out which songs speak to me and which ones don’t. I’ve been listening to Five For Fighting a lot lately and honestly, it’s not my favorite album from Five For Fighting, but I do like it a lot.

All of the songs are sung beautifully and in the usual Five For Fighting style. Each song is telling a story about their family, friends and current events. I think the songs are more beautiful when you stop and really listen to the words and understand what he is singing about.

My favorite songs are Love Can’t Change the Weather, This Dance, Chances, Slice and Story of Your Life. Story of Your Life was written for John Ondrasik’s wife of 12 years which makes the song even more beautiful to me.

If you are a Five For Fighting fan, you definitely will not be disappointed with this album. It delivers the usual Five For Fighting thoughtful poetic lyrics combined with a beautiful voice.

Download Slice Now at iTunes.

Give Your Life a Whrrl

  • Google Buzz

2009-06-01_1234whrrllogo

No, I didn’t make a mistake in my title. A Whrrl is an online storytelling tool that I recently found via my iPhone. At first, I wasn’t sure why I needed it or how I’d use it, but that has never stopped me from trying anything before.

(Note: I was not compensated in any way for this review. I found Whrrl on my own, started using it and I love it, so I wanted to share. Let me know what you think about Whrrl and be sure to add to my story that I created in this review.)

Whrrl

What is a Whrrl? It is an online story telling tool. You can create stories with pictures and notes along with your exact location, share it with friends and family and share it on Facebook and Twitter. What really excites me about Whrrl is that you can have your friends and family (who also have a Whrrl account) add their pictures and comments to the same story using an iPhone or SMS from any cell phone.

2009-06-01_1028whrrl

For example, let’s say your family has an annual family picnic where everyone gathers to eat, drink and be merry. We all know that everyone brings their camera and takes lots of pictures and we all promise to share the pictures with each other. A few people may go home and do that, but the majority of the pictures stay with the person who took them, only to be seen maybe in the annual holiday newsletter. But, with Whrrl, one person can create the Whrrl story, add their pictures and comments and then every family member (with a Whrrl account) can add their pictures to that story, write comments about any of the pictures that have been uploaded. Here are my Whrrl stories:

2009-06-01_1119whrrl

You can see my story from our outing this past Saturday night. There are 10 photos that I took of us at dinner. Below is what you see when you go to the story at the Whrrl site. This shows the location, who was there, the pictures and you can add comments here too. If you click on the “Tell Your Side of the Story,” you can add your pictures and notes to this story. Stories can be seen by only you, your trusted friends (you decide who is trusted and who is just a friend), friends and everyone. You decide who will see the story.

2009-06-01_1056whrrl

Whrrl also has an iPhone app which, in my opinion, makes this an outstanding tool because you can see what is going on as it’s happening from the viewpoint of many participants. A few weeks ago, EAS Active launched their new Wii Personal Trainer fitness game in New York City. I was able to follow some of the 30 day challengers on their adventures at the launch while it was happening. It was the next best thing to being there. This is a screenshot from Jessica Smith’s story, but you can see that 3 others who were there also added pictures and comments to her story. Click on the picture to go directly to the Whrrl story.

2009-06-01_1104whrrl

So, let’s give this a Whrrl (pun intended). I am going to create a Whrrl story on my iPhone right now following these steps:

  • Be sure you have the Whrrl app (link to app store) installed on your iPhone. Search “whrrl” in the app store from your iPhone.
  • Open up Whrrl app
  • If you do not have an account, you will need to create one first.
  • When you first open up the app, you’ll see two tabs at the very top. The left one says “Say where you are” and the right one has an icon of a camera and a circle with an exclamation mark in it. Click the “Say where you are” button.

IMG_0001

  • Click inside the “Say where you are” field and add your location. It will try to find locations of places around you, but you can add new ones by clicking the “+” at the top right. For me, I added one called Home and the location is Chantilly, VA. It did find my home address right away, but I didn’t want to post my home address. You may have to scroll down all the way to find the ones you’ve added.

IMG_0002

  • In the “Can be Seen by…” field is where you decide who can see the story. If you just want to remember this event for yourself, choose You. Trusted Friends is a for Whrrl friends that you have decided can be ‘trusted.’ Friends is for any Whrrl member that you have listed in your friends (whether they are trusted or not). And The Public is anyone whether they are your friend or not.

IMG_0002

  • Now let’s add a picture. Click on the tab with the camera icon. Click on photo. Choose between Camera (take picture now) or Photo Library (find a picture you’ve already taken.) I chose camera. I am not taking a picture. Either Use Photo or Retake. It will upload the picture to your Whrrl story and take you back to the photo/post/share tab.

IMG_0002

  • Now I’d like to add a comment about this story. Click on Post. Type in some comments and click Save. It takes you back to the photo/post/share tab

IMG_0003

  • If you added your Facebook and Twitter accounts to your Whrrl account you can share this story (or any) with your Facebook and Twitter friends. I will do that right now. If you are a Twitter or Facebook friend of mine, you will be able to see it.

IMG_0001

  • You can click on the photo/exclamation mark tab to close it. That’s it! Pretty easy and now you can go to my story at Whrrl via the iPhone and add a picture and comment to my story. Be sure to add me as a friend to your account too.
  • Go to my story and leave a comment

A few things I’d love to see on Whrrl:

  • Ability to add video
  • Ability to add to join in a story directly from the web page
  • Be able to change the size of the widget for my blog. The current one they have is quite large and doesn’t fit well into my sidebar where I’d like to have it.
  • Customizable profile pages.
  • Availability on platforms other than iPhone (According to their website, they are working on this)

Whrrl has a few of their own tutorials and a blog with a lot of useful information.

Overall I’m giving this 4 out of 5 stars on my usefulness scale. I think once it is available on other platforms, it will be a 5 out of 5. Currently, Whrrl is still officially in beta, but I have not found anything buggy about it at all. It has been quite reliable and a whole lotta fun!

We are taking a trip to Orlando in 3 weeks and I plan to use Whrrl as a journal of our trip. We are going to be visiting with friends and family while down there and I’m hoping to get them on Whrrl and have them add their pictures. Whenever we travel, I always plan to take notes about our trip so I can refer to them when I go back and create a scrapbook or put the pictures to DVD, but I never remember to do it and it’s usually quite inconvenient. I think Whrrl is my solution to that problem.

Review of Ragu Old World Style Margherita sauce for Mom's Nite Out

  • Google Buzz

Ragu Review Mom's Nite OutMom’s Nite Out was on May 7th and my husband was out of town and I had 2 sick kids and I wasn’t feeling well that day. I did participate in some of the activities, but no one was feeling well enough to cook a meal for Mom. So on Wednesday night, it was Mom’s Nite Out in the McGraw household and Dad cooked up a yummy spaghetti dinner.

Ragu send us 2 new and different types of sauces, Old World Style Margherita & Sweet Tomato Basil. We decided to try the Margherita because it sounded quite different and interesting. It is a blend of pizza sauce and tomatoes. We love pizza sauce. My husband chose to make your typical sauce with ground beef over spaghetti noodles. He cooked the ground beef first until it was all browned and then rinsed it well to get rid of the excess grease. We do not like our spaghetti sauce runny and who needs excess fat. He added the Margherita sauce and let it simmer while he was cooking the noodles. About 20 minutes later, we had a hot meal. My husband’s specialty is spaghetti so he is a pro at cooking it (mostly because it’s easy and it looks like you cooked over a hot stove all day).

He served our Ragu Old World Style Margherita sauce with parmesan cheese and even added a little candlelight. That night it was only my two youngest kids at home for dinner. In my opinion, the sauce was quite flavorful. Both my 4 yr old and 6 yr old loved it. Megan ate it all which is unusual for her and Nicky claimed it was the “best spaghetti ever.” The sauce was thick and had a lot of flavor without needing to add a lot of spices. Of course, the best part of the meal was not having to cook it. And with only 2 grams of fat in 1 serving, it was a healthy meal to serve the family. We’ve been really watching what we feed the kids lately.

It got 4 thumbs up from the McGraw’s and we will definitely buy it in the future.

We did do some videotaping for the event, however, my husband got a bit confused with the new video camera and when he thought he was filming, it was off and when he thought it was off, it was on. So, this was what I could piece together. Most of the footage was of the camera sitting on the counter staring at the ceiling.
