Absense makes the heart grow fonder…

So are you feeling fonder of me yet? This has been quite a week so far. I’m sick, Nicky is sick and I have a ton of things to do. Why do we always get sick when Jason is out of town? And today I did one of those “yes I’m a bad mommy” things. My 4 yr old is skipping preschool today because I don’t feel well enough to drive her over there. I’m justifying it by telling myself that I’m doing it because we might have strep and I wouldn’t want to expose anyone to strep. But really, I am freezing cold and in my jammies (finally showered after 3 days) and I don’t want to put clothes on so she can learn the letter Z for 3 hours. I know, I know, I am seriously going to pay for this. I can see it already….

Imagine me, in my 50s (but not looking a day over 38), Megan about 16 and I’m sick and she has a big test and doesn’t want to go to school.

She says, “buuuuut MOOOOMMMMM, that one time 12 years ago when you were sick and I had to learn the letter…ah, uh…what was that letter, Mom? you know the last one in the alphabet, the one I would have learned if you had gotten off your sick butt and taken me to preschool to learn that letter.”

I say, ” you mean Z”

She Says, “yep, that’s it and I need to stay home today. You wouldn’t let me go 12 years ago, why do I have to go to school now when you are sick?”

Yep…I’m going to pay for it because kids never forget things like that. Now, if I ask them where are their shoes or iPod or phone or homework??? They have no idea. But that one thing I did wrong…they’ll remember.

Send us good healthy vibes because I’m sick of feeling sick and I have things to do.

Project 365: Day 57

Sami is reading to Megan’s preschool class. It was “S” week and on Thursday they have Show and Share where they bring in 1 thing from home that starts with whatever letter they are doing that week. This week Megan brought her sister, Sami to read a story. She is reading Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that type.

This is our first snowfall of the winter season. We ended up with about 3 inches and the kids had 2 days off of school. Megan is sitting on the computer playing on Club Penguin.

This is my youngest, Megan doing her own laundry. She needs a stool and practically has to climb into the washing machine to get her clothes out, but she is bound and determined to do it herself. And who am I to stop her from helping?
