I’ve been focusing on the back-end of my blog the last week. I’m working on some changes so that you will be able to find things easier and the categories will be more clear. But it seems to always take up so much time.
The weather has been crazy here. Today it was almost 90, but last week it was in the 20s in the morning. I never know what to wear. But because the days are generally warmer, I’ve started running again. I spend my winters hibernating and now I’m breaking free. The 25 lbs I gained while I was sick and not doing anything is not coming off very quickly.
This last week I tracked my food daily and ran twice. So proud of myself. I decided to run a 5k to give myself a starting point. On Wednesday while my son was at soccer practice, I ran a 5k on the track. I had not run or even worked out since October and I planned to just finish. It took me about 50 minutes, but I never stopped running. Now I did spend some of the time running in place while I was listening to the soccer coach and my phone rang several times and I got texts, so it wasn’t a real smooth run.
Then on Sunday I did it again. I ran the 5k straight in 40 minutes. Very proud of that time because that is without any training. I was at about a 11 minute mile before I got sick so I’m feeling pretty good. My half marathon is Labor Day weekend so I have time to work up to 13 miles.
So, how have you celebrated the Spring? Start running again? Plant some flowers?
