Every day I track all the food that I put in my mouth, EXCEPT Friday nights. I allow myself to eat what I want and have a special DQ treat and I don’t write any of it down. Why? Because it feels like I’m cheating and getting away with it.
I don’t know if it’s right or wrong in the book of “healthy eating habits,” but it does 2 things for me.
1. Gives me a reason to workout really hard on Saturday and Sunday. I usually have awesome workouts on the weekends.
2. I am not feeling deprived.
When I gave myself permission to enjoy the Friday evening treat and not worry about the calories, the guilt went away. When I was tracking those calories, I would immediately feel guilty about how much I just ate.
I know, I know…I shouldn’t be rewarding myself with food. I don’t think of it as a reward for being good, but rather a Friday night treat just because!!
How do you handle those feelings of “being deprived?” How do you reward yourself when you reach a goal?
