Motorola Xoom From Verizon Rocks The 4G #MotoCalyp

I love researching and I love gadgets, so when I was asked to research the Motorola Xoom from Verizon, I jumped on it. Check out my Google+ Motorola Xoom from Verizon Story with lots of pictures of my research online and in person.

Motorola Xoom from Verizon Pros

The features that appeal to me the most are:

  • 4G or WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity (LOVIN’ the 4G!)
  • 5 mp camera on back and 1.3 mp webcam on the front
  • Flash enabled
  • Tether other gadgets off the Motorola Xoom (use the Xoom’s 4G to connect your cell phone and/or laptop or other device)

Testing the camera on the Motorola Xoom from Verizon.

The camera is a very important feature for me because we take a lot of pictures and video. We are looking for a tablet for the family, but primarily for the kids to share. I know they will be taking lots of pictures so I want a decent camera.

Here is a picture I took with the front camera. For a 1.3 mp webcam, this picture turned out pretty good. (Totally ignore the double chin…I should know better than the take a picture from below!)

This photo was taken with the 5 mp camera on the back of the Motorola Xoom. The back camera also has a flash. I didn’t need it for this picture.

I like the size of the Motorola Xoom from Verizon. It fits easily in a purse to easily take it with you wherever you go.

Motorola Xoom from Verizon Cons

The back of the Motorola Xoom from Verizon felt like plastic and I’m concerned with how durable it is. For the price of the Motorola Xoom, I expected it to feel more luxurious! Yes, gadgets can be luxurious!

The Motorola Xoom from Verizon runs on an Android 3.1 operating system. While this gives me the Flash capabilities, some of the apps I use are not available on the Android operating system and I would need to buy all new apps.

Motorola Xoom?

After all the research, I’m still not sure about purchasing the Motorola Xoom from Verizon because of the Android operating system. The Motorola Xoom itself I would buy, but I’m concerned about Android app availability. If there were more apps available for the Android operating system, I would be more interested in the Motorola Xoom. I have to say that the 4G is really appealing too.

If we do decide to buy the Motorola Xoom directly from the Verizon store closest to me because I can get help adding it to my cell plan and if I have any problems, I know exactly where to go for help.

  1. Hmm, I like the specs of the unit but am slightly worried that the plastic outer case isnt going to stand up to the transit that I am going to be putting it through!

Thanks for the review and keep up the good work.

    • You are very welcome! I’m not sure I’d trust the plastic case either if it’s going to take a beating. Not without an Otterbox case or similar and to me, that just defeats the whole purpose of a tablet.

  2. wow, Motorola still got its best. Good for gadget lovers.
