We all use email more than snail mail these days, but what about for romance? Do you send love letters via email? The Windows Live Hotmail team decided to find out if the old fashioned love letter still exists or if we’ve reduced it down to 140 charachters.
HOTmail
The Hotmail team asked 1000 people how they communicate in the age of sexting. Below you will find a V-Mail infographic of their findings, but I’ve highlighted a few of the interesting facts (and maybe why it’s called HOTmail! LOL!
- 69 percent of American adults admit to sharing romantic words, photos and even fantasies via e-mail. (just be sure you don’t send those fantasies to your boss by mistake.)
- 55 percent save emails from their romantic partner while 31 percent save emails from their ex-partner (This is where those Hotmail folders come in handy. You don’t want to mix ex-partners with current partners.)
- 25 percent have been caught sending sexy emails at work (uh-oh!)
- 4 percent have sent sexy emails at work and admitted to ACTING them out at work! (Maybe they all work at home!)
Hotmail Alias Email
Hotmail also released a great new features last week which allows you to temporarily create a Hotmail account to manage incoming email, filter it and turn it off when you are done. I’m thinking this might come in handy for dating. You could give each partner a different email alias and when you break up, just turn off that alias and you don’t have to worry about mixing the ex-partners with your current partners. You can also create these aliases to help keep you organized by topic, use one for newsletters, one for school, one for business, one for kid’s activities, another for family and friends and so on.
Pretty cool feature to help keep you organized AND to be sure you do not send those love letters to the wrong person or in the wrong folder.
HOTmail V-Mail
I have sent romantic emails to my husband. I am careful about what I send to his office email though. Sometimes I’ll send it to his personal email account and then I’ll send him a quick email at work telling him to check the personal account. Since Jason and I met online, I’m not sure we ever sent snail mail letters to each other.
