Memory Mixer is a blend of digital scrapbooking, multimedia, creativity and fun. As a geek, I was really excited when scrapbooking went digital because I was able to combine my two addictions, technology and scrapbooking. But Memory Mixer took that to a new level. Not only could I create a digital scrapbook page, but I could add movies and sound to the page and create a multimedia scrapbook.
Traditional vs Memory Mixer Scrapbooking
We all know about the scrapbook pages of birthdays where we trim pictures, add a background, a few cake stickers, some fancy candle elements, journaling, a creative title and slide it into our kid’s scrapbook. Our kids love looking at them and we enjoy creating them. But imagine taking that same birthday page and creating it with digital elements and digital pictures. Then you add a movie of your child opening the awesome Lego set they received as a gift, then add the sounds of your child’s grandparents singing Happy Birthday to their grandson. You finish it off with scanned in copies of all the cards they received from family and friends. THAT is what Memory Mixer can do for your scrapbook pages.
Memory Mixer Projects
At the end of each year, you take all those digital layouts with documents, video and sound and create a CD of the entire year for your family’s Holiday newsletter. Instead of hearing about all the activities you did all year, your family can see it in living color, moving pictures and glorious sound. All of this is possible with Memory Mixer.
Memory Mixer also makes it possible to create a printed scrapbook that you can give to your child so they can look at the pages and read all about their own adventures. Or create a calendar so Grandma can enjoy her grand kids with a new picture each month.
Memory Mixer Options
There are several options for sharing your pages. You can have Memory Mixer automatically create a page after you choose the background and photos, create a page from scratch or add your photos to templates. I was able to quickly create a birthday book as a gift for a friend when I was short on time.
There are several choices for sharing your pages/books too. You can print the pages at home, have them printed professionally, create a CD or DVD (ordered online).
Memory Mixer Ideas
The Memory Mixer software comes with plenty of digital scrapbooking kits, elements, templates and more. There are also a lot more available at their website for purchase and some are free. Memory Mixer’s blog, the little things has a freebie every Wednesday and a giveaway every Friday. The Memory Mixer website also has several tutorials to help you get started.
Share ideas with other Memory Mixer users in the Memory Mixer community on their Facebook page.
As a Mac user, the most exciting feature of Memory Mixer is that it is available for both Windows AND Mac. There are several versions of the software available.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to like scrapbooking with movies and sounds, but it took my scrapbooking to a new level. It is the ultimate combination of scrapbooking and technology and this geek is having fun with it.

My favorite feature is that you can put music and audio on this. This would be so much fun creating memories with our new daughter making her cooing sounds.
