Glee's Vogue Comparison to Madonna's Vogue

Last night’s Glee was AWESOME! I wasn’t a huge Madonna fan in the 80s. I listened to her music and I liked it, owned a few albums (yes, albums, not 8 tracks and not CDs), but I didn’t worship her. Watching Glee last night gave me a new appreciation for her music. I never thought about the big picture of Madonna’s music. I just enjoyed good dance music.

I really enjoy Glee because it puts a new spin on music (pun intended). They do more than just sing and dance. They interpret songs and use songs to show how they are feeling, but because they are songs we all know and love it gives new meaning to the songs. I’ll admit, I’m probably your average shallow music listener. Yes, I get the meaning of the song if it’s very obvious, but I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the deep meaning of songs. I either like them or I don’t. So to have Glee interpret songs in a fun and entertaining way is enjoyable for me.

I was curious about how close Glee’s video version of Vogue was to Madonna’s video version of Vogue. I found this comparison on YouTube and it’s pretty close.

And just in case you missed last night’s episode, here it is.

Questions for Discussion:

  • Did you watch Glee last night? What were your thoughts on the episode?
  • Were you a big Madonna fan?
  • Did you like the Glee version of Vogue?
