Wordless Wednesday, My Soon To Be Hearing Soccer Player

This is my daughter, Megan, who will be getting tubes in her ears and her adenoids out this Friday. She has had problems with fluid in her ears since she was 2 and we finally got someone to take notice. The biggest problem before was that she was never in pain so she didn’t get “ear infections.” Instead she had one constant ear infection that never went away. The good news? There is no permanent damage to her ears so come Friday afternoon, she should be able to hear clearly.

This year she finally is playing soccer. It’s the 3rd year we have signed her up, but she usually gives up after about 3 practices. I know, I know..if you sign up, you play. But when you spend every Saturday at games and several practices during the week (with 4 kids) and you have 1 kid who screams the whole time, you just don’t have the energy to force her to sit there. But this season, she is loving it. So I guess it doesn’t matter whether you force them or not. She is upset that she is going to miss 2 games while she is in recovery from her surgery.

  1. She is going to be so much happier after she gets those tubes. We did that this year with our 3yo and our 1yo. They can both hear so much better now. It makes a huge difference for the whole family.

    • Oh good! Glad to hear it helped your kids. For years we thought she was ignoring us and she always had the TV blaring. In a way, I was glad to hear she had problems with her ears because it definitely explained a LOT!

  2. My son just had tubes put in his ears…and the difference in him has been amazing! I hope all goes well for your daughter!

    • So happy to hear the positive outcomes. We are hopeful it will work for her too.

  3. Hope everything turns out ok! Will be sending many good thoughts your way on Friday!

  4. Sending you well wishes for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery so that she can get back out in the field in no time :-)

  5. Hope the surgery went well Michele and that you are able to get some rest.((( hug ))) -S

    • Thank you Susan! It did go well and today she told us that everything is so loud. I guess that means she is hearing better. YEAH!!

  6. I hope her surgery went well and she is recovering nicely. She is adorable!

    • Thank you Stefany! The surgery was a success and she's feeling better today (as long as we give her the meds). :D
