Fisher Price Trio Building Set Review

I received the Fisher Price Trio Building Set to review with my 6 yr old son. He loves building anything. We have every building set known to man boy. I asked him if he wanted to try something new and he was thrilled. Of course that meant he waited every day for the package to come. (Note to Self: Do not mention new toy to son).

As soon as he saw the box, he wanted to dig right in. Here is a video of his adventure:

He still loves to play with the Trio blocks and he has seen a commercial for a castle set that he wants for Christmas now. I like them because he is not asking me every few minutes to put the pieces together or take them apart. As mentioned in the video, he did have a difficult time creating the house that was in the book because a picture was shown of just the front and back and no directions included for the in between steps. But he has such a great imagination and has created his own version of the house. It houses his Star Trek characters.

You can go to the Fisher Price Trio web pageĀ  and get a $5 coupon, good until September 30, 2009.

  3. I LOVED this posting for the demo of what it looks like to build. The cover/base makes it easy to build on a rug surface. The blocks are easy to snap/unsnap; the thin connectors take some practice and assistance from an adult. One day of adult modeling was all it took to get two children to build independently, modifying the things that were hard as mentioned. The right amount of stuff for us (twins 5 1/2 and a 3) was three large tubs, three put-together planes, and three stuctures (police, fire, and airport). No fussing (though the 3 year old needs a bit of help) about playing together or separately, though this amount costs $150. (If they play with it for a year, it’s 40 cents a day.) Stores easily: the plane goes in the tub, but the structure needed a separate Isis drawer which stacks on top. For us, this is a good preparation for Legos, which were too small to manipulate and kept falling apart. Again, a big thanks for this video, though an update with the child building would be great.

    • Well, it would be great to give you an update with the child building except that my child didn’t build it ever. He’s very particular and wanted it to be built exactly like the box says you build it and since he couldn’t do that, he had Dad do it. It’s stayed like that since we got it. LOL!

  4. my kid loves this!
