32nd Street Blog Parade: Get To Know Me

  • Google Buzz

I love this Blog Parade because I get to answer a bunch of really fun questions and you all get to know me a little better and I get to know a lot of other people better. When you are done reading my answers, go to the 32nd Street Blog Parade , grab the questions and answer them yourself.

1. What’s your favorite time of the day, and why?

That changes so much for me. Right now it’s from about 8am to 11am because the house is quiet. Everyone is either at school or work. I can do anything I want. What do I usually do? Sleep or work, but just knowing I can do anything is enough.

2. If health wasn’t an issue, what food could you live off of?

Mexican Food DEFINITELY

Mexican Chips & Dip

3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be?

My first thought was money cuz I could do so many of the other things I want to do if I had an endless supply of money, but I want to be more creative. So, I’m going to say time to do anything I want. Meaning I always start projects and never find the time to finish them. There are so many other things I want to do, but just don’t find the time.

4. What’s one thing that you get teased about a lot?

I’d say probably being short. I do not mind being short at all. I kinda like it. It is the first thing people say to me when they meet me in person, “I didn’t realize you were so short.” Even when I’ve told them I wss short, they are surprised I am SOOO short. I’m 5 feet even.

5. If you could choose one movie, book, or TV show to spend your life in, which would you pick? What type of character would you be?

Easy…Sex And The City and I’d want to be Carrie. That show is how I envisioned my life after college and before getting married and having a family. I dreamed about being some big time executive in NYC.

6. If you could have one talent that you don’t already have, what would it be?

To be able to sing WELL!

7.If money were no object, where would you go on vacation?

Definitely the beach in the Caribbean. I love the clear water and white sands.

Breakfast at the Bay Bistro

8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing?

Pop. I love catchy pop tunes.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what would it be?

That’s easy, the Apple store! I love my Apple products and anything that goes with them.

The new Apple Store

10. If you could live in any point in time, when would it be?

Can I pick the future? I would love to see all the cool stuff that happens with technology in the future.

11. If every outfit in your wardrobe had to be one color, what would it be?

Orange!!!

12. If you were one of the seven dwarves, which one would you be? (Doc, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Happy, or Dopey)

Bashful probably. Everyone is surprised when I say I’m shy, but I am. I’m just good at hiding it I guess.

13. What’s the last album you listened to?

OH geez. I never listen to albums anymore. I just download songs that I like from iTunes. The last song I listened to was Lady GaGa’s song with Elton John.

14. What’s something we’d be surprised to know about you?

Hmmmm, I can’t think of anything. I’m such an open book. LOL! Let’s see. I went to Travel school after college and I was going to either work on a cruise ship or be a travel agent. Why didn’t I? I ended up meeting my hubby on AOL and the rest is history.

I’ve Got Sunshine….

  • Google Buzz

…on a snowy day. Every cloudy day this winter seems to bring more snow, but who cares, because I’ve got sunshine.

Thanks to Mrs. C from Hanging With Mrs. Cooper for my Sunshine Award. I received the award while I was at Mom 2.0 last week so I’m a little late in spreading the sunshine. Thank you so much for the sunshine, Mrs. C! It really brightened my day. She and I meet all over the web during livestreaming events. We met during Blogalicious and met again during the Disney Social Media event. In between we keep in touch via Skype and Twitter. We hope to meet in person one of these day.

Now to spread the sunshine. This is always tough, not because I can’t think of anyone, but because I don’t know where to stop. I can’t list everyone who has brightened my day. But here are a few that brighten my day on a daily basis.

BanteringBlonde – Fiona and I just spent the weekend together at Mom 2.0. She definitely brightens my day and has many of the same interests. And I can’t forget her LOVE of anything Mac.

TheBudgeBunch – I have said it before, and I’ll say it again, Cheryl is like my sista from another mother. She and I both have 4 kids and we often joke that our families wouldn’t notice if we did the wife swap show because we are so alike in our styles. She’s just a bit taller than me. I get to meet Cheryl in about 10 days for the first time in person. We are attending the SITS Bloggy Bootcamp in Baltimore on March 6.

KeepItClassyJen – I met Jen when I took her social media class last April. Since then she has kept me thinking and asking me the tough questions and not taking No for an answer.

KnitPurlGurl – I have not met Karrie in person, but every time I see her smiling face on my Skype, it brightens my day. She is always there for support and a kind word and her “giggle” smilies crack me up.

MultitaskingMe – Melissa was the first Twitter friend that I met in person (along with @Twincident). She and I then both ended up going to BlogHer last year even though we didn’t think we were. She lives pretty close to me so you’d think we’d get the opportunity to meet more often, but we don’t. But I’m glad I get to see her smiling face in my Twitter stream and we will be roomies at the SITS Bloggy Bootcamp in a few weeks.

Childhood – Kelly knows how to brighten a room with her huge smile. It doesn’t matter how she is feeling, she always looks so happy. I love watching her show on MomTV because she is so silly and makes me laugh (& since I’m hopeless at sewing, I need to laugh while I pretend I know what I’m doing).

Chatterbox Christie – Christie is an amazing woman. I knew who she was before Type A, but had not really talked or even tweeted with her much. but when we all got together at Type A it was as if we were long lost friends. I hadn’t laughed so much in a long time. I get a hug chuckle every time I think about blue drinks.

Ask Wifey – Lorraine is another amazing woman. She and Christie are The Blog Rollers and once again, I didn’t know her very well before Type A and after I felt like I’d known her for years.

A Busy Mommy – Jen is another friend that I’ve never met in person, yet feel like I know her very well. She brightens my day when I see her smiling face.

Multiple MOMents – Carissa is always there with a supporting word and advice.

Rachel Ferrucci – Rachel is one of those that keeps popping up where ever I go. I’ve never met her in person, but it seems we are running in the same circles and on the same project. But I’m always glad to see her on anything I’m working on because she’s a real sweetheart.

Even thought I have a good list here, it is definitely NOT the ONLY people that brighten my day. Just the ones who happen to come to mind today. So now you all get to spread the sunshine.

Who brightens your day? Let me know in the comments.

These are from 2 separate snowstorms that we’ve had in 5 days. My kids are home from school today with a snow day. We got 6 inches over the weekend, 4 inches today and somewhere in the ballpark of 10+ will be coming over the weekend and then more next week. I really am done. I thought the 19 inches of snow that was the all-time record snowstorm for Dulles was enough snow for one winter. Guess Mother Nature has it in for me this year. Thankfully I have a 13 yr old son and a snowblower.

It’s official. Apple announced their tablet device today and it’s called the

iPad

I’m not really thrilled about the name. I can hear all the jokes already, but Apple likes the i with one syllable words so it doesn’t surprise me. But enough about my opinion, let’s get to the details first.

The iPad will have

  • iBook – ereader
  • iWork for iPad – downloadable apps priced at $9.99 each (pages, keynote, Numbers)
  • Contacts & Calendar
  • Video
  • Internet browser
  • Apps – all apps from iPhone/iTouch will work on iPad
  • Pictures – slideshows, upload
  • 10 hrs battery life
  • 9.7 in wide, .5 in thick
  • Syncs same as iPhone with a USB cord and iTunes

Let’s talk about prices of the service. $29 per month for unlimited 3G and $14.99 for up to 250 mb per month. AT&T is offering wifi hotspots for free.

No contracts and you can activate it right on the iPad.

And now for the prices of the iPad:

Starts at $499 for the 16 GB wifi up to $820 for the 64 GB wi+3G.

  • wifi is 16 GB – $499, 32 GB – $599, 64 GB – $699
  • wifi + 3G is 16 GB – $629, 32 GB – $729, 64 GB – $829

That pricing starts much cheaper than what I thought, but for the one I’d want, the price is right about where I thought it would be. In my opinion, they are offering enough options so that most can afford it if they want it.

My first impression is that I’m in love with it. I haven’t seen it in person and really seen it in action, so I’ll reserve my final opinion until I see it. I’m curious about using the keyboard. I’m listening to Leo Laporte talk about it (he was at the event) and he mentions that it takes the computer out of the equation. You don’t feel like you are using a computer. He is now holding one and says it’s very responsive and lightweight. It rotates portrait to landscape very quickly. He said typing feels good (although it was typing in Chinese). He was impressed and said it was a very beautiful device.

I like how real many of the things look. For example, the iBook software looks like a bookshelf with books on it. When you read a book, it looks like a real book and you can see the pages behind even. Apple always takes the time to add little things that make the whole user experience exceptional and very real.

I know I will get one and I would even stand in line for this. When can we get our hands on one? Apple said 60 days for the wifi version and 90 days for the wifi+3G version.

Will you get an iPad? What are your thoughts?
