Yesterday I did the last workout for my 30 day challenge with my EA Sports Active. I pre-ordered mine and picked it up first thing that Tuesday morning when they came out. I was really excited about the new game, but I was also not so sure it would do all that it said it would. But, I was willing to try it out for myself.
I started on the hard level because I wanted to really push myself. After one workout, I was hooked! On my rest days, I wanted to do more. For the first 3 weeks, I followed the 30 day challenge exactly as it was scheduled taking my rest days and not doing any extra workouts. This last week, I felt like I wasn’t getting a good enough workout doing just the 30 day challenge, so I added some of the other workouts and even created 2 custom workouts. The reason it wasn’t hard enough for me though was because it worked. I was getting stronger and could last longer doing cardio, so the challenge wasn’t enough anymore. I did watch what I ate for the first 3 weeks and I tracked my calories the last week.
I officially lost 6 lbs and 6 inches during the 30 day challenge and 2.5 inches of that was off my abs. I can feel it in my shorts and I’m down 1 size. I have noticed that my arms and legs feel much tighter and overall I feel healthier and I’m also not having problems with insomnia anymore. And my biggest success I attribute to the EAS Active? I am now addicted to working out. I want to workout every day and I schedule my day so that I get in at least a 20 minute workout.
I have a total of 4 different Wii workout games and I definitely like this one the best because it gave me the best overall workout. I also did not have any problems with the leg band staying in place. I did not like the toning band they included because it stretched too much (although that is probably good for beginners), but it also started to tear after just 1 week of use. I found some cheap bands at Wal-Mart which worked much better.
I did have one disappointment when I completed the challenge. I really would liked to have some fireworks or a big party thrown in my favor when I completed it. Other than Bob Greene coming on to congratulate me, there was very little excitement. OK, I know that is selfish, but hey, I just finished the 30 day challenge, I want a party!
Some of my favorite activities were volleyball, baseball, boxing and running. My least favorite were the all the lunges, but that is only because I HATE lunges and there was no way around them and no way of cheating and they were hard. But boy are my thighs tight now! My 10 yr old daughter and I are training to run in a 5k in October so I’m going to do the marathon workout 2x/week starting with the easy one and work up to the hard one. I will definitely use this on a weekly basis, but I will also do the WiiFit and my Cardio Boxing game too for variety.
Here are a few things I’d like to see added or improved on the EAS Active:
- Be able to take the 30 day challenge with another person
- Offer a couch to 5k program
- Ability to go from exercise to exercise quicker once you have completed all the activities once.
- Offer new workouts that could be downloaded through the Wii

Congratulations on completing the 30 day challenge, losing weight and inches!!! That's awesome!
So better than the wii fit I assume (since you didn't actually list the other games you own)?
Yep, better than the wii fit. I have all the other fitness games. WiiFit, Cardio Boxing, Jillian's and Personal Trainer. I got the best workout on the EAS Active. It was definitely tougher and I felt like it was a better overall body workout.
